Privacy Policy
1. Privacy policy
No personal information (name, e-mail address, birth date and country of origin) supplied by subscribers is shared with any entity unrelated with the site, apart from in the following two specific cases: (a) authors who submit content to the site and have their personal details exposed on the same pages on which their content is published, and (b) users who claim prizes in contests organized by the site, in which the users voluntarily participate and authorize the site to supply their e-mail address to the sponsors who will contact them to deliver the prizes.
2. Requirement to subscribe
This site does not require a person to subscribe in order to access site content. However, the authors of some types of content published on the site, like the code of the classes of objects, have the option of requiring that users are authenticated when they want to read or download the code packages. The site records the identity of users who access a code package only when the users are authenticated. This way the site can build accurate top download charts that are reasonably immune to fraud, and provide additional exposure and recognition only to the work of the authors who deserve it. Additionally, the information about which users accessed a packages is used to determine which users may be interested in receiving automatic alerts when such packages are updated by their authors.
3. Mailing list subscriptions
As part of each subscription, the site sends free newsletters and new site content alert messages by means of several types of mailing lists. All users are automatically joined to these mailing lists once they confirm the site subscription process. Users who do not wish to receive messages from these mailing lists can unsubscribe from any of the lists, either by going to the user options page and unchecking the respective alerts and newsletter options, or by sending unsubscribe request e-mail messages as explained at the bottom of all mailing list messages. Unsubscribe requests sent by e-mail to the addresses specified in mailing list messages are handled by an automated program that sends a reply with a special URL that a user needs to access to confirm the unsubscribe request. Given that the site provides two self-service alternatives to unsubscribe from site mailing lists, the site administrators do not handle user unsubscribe requests, but in the case of difficulties may instruct users in how to unsubscribe by themselves.
4. No multiple accounts
Multiple accounts are not allowed. The site refuses requests to subscribe using the same access name or the same e-mail address. The site does not support the permanent removal of any accounts, even when users state that they no longer wish to access the site or receive messages from its mailing lists or benefit from any other services. The site does not remove any accounts, so that it is always able to verify whether an account already exists with the same access name or e-mail address.
5. Updates of the terms of use
These terms of use may be updated from time to time to clarify anything that may cause confusion, or to cover new aspects of the site. The updated terms of use are presented the next time a subscriber makes an authenticated access to the site. Users are required to confirm that they have read, understood, and accept the new terms of use to be allowed to continue to access the site.
